Bev Gray Celebrant
Based in Belper, Derbyshire creating thoughtful, bespoke ceremonies for all of life’s moments
People’s stories have always fascinated me.
I think it started many years ago, listening to my nan talk about living through the war. As she spoke, I could almost imagine the smells, the sounds, and what daily life must have felt like back then. Those moments stayed with me — a reminder of how powerful sharing stories can be.
For over 30 years, I have worked in the world of manufacturing medical equipment, where patients were always at the very heart of everything I did. Care, precision, empathy and respect mattered — and still do. That experience shaped how I listen, how I communicate, and how important it is to truly understand the people in front of me.
People say light bulb moments, but they truly do exist. It happened to me. One day, I saw a celebrant at work. As she spoke, something just clicked.
I remember thinking, I could do that. Not just speak the words, tell the story, and honour the moment. That’s when I knew this was what I was meant to do. What a privilege.
I’m naturally passionate and endlessly curious about people. Nosey, my mum called it when I was a child — and she wasn’t wrong. I love asking questions, listening carefully, and uncovering the moments that truly matter.
